Fall-Inspired Paint Colors We Love

We're feeling fall over here—and when you're an interior designer that means translating all of the inspiring shades you see into your favorite paint colors. We've curated a palette full of some versatile neutrals, warm mid-range tones, and some bolder hues that feel right at home during autumn in New England.

Plus, it has a little something for everyone.  If you love white, white, and more white, or even some pale gray, this palette gives you the option to add a moody, thoughtful accent color that will dramatize the neutral. If adding bolder colors to your walls isn't your thing, find other places for color like painting an old sideboard.  But if you're feeling adventurous, we've pulled rich romantic colors that are ready to set a seriously sophisticated mood that will suit multiple styles.

Benjamin Moore's Chantilly Lace : OC-65

Bright but still minimal, Chantilly Lace is a true white, meaning that there are virtually no undertones to contend with. It's a beautiful backdrop for just about anything you can dream up for it decor-wise in your home. It works hard to brighten a darker room but also looks stunning in a sun-drenched family or living room.

Benjamin Moore's Cloud Cover : OC-25

Mimicking the softness of the sky on a cloudy fall day, this off-white isn't quite a classic gray but is a nice middle ground between bright white. Endlessly versatile, this paint works well in a textured, all neutral room but can create a stunning backdrop for boldly colored accent pieces.

Benjamin Moore's Classic Gray : OC-23

This Classic Gray is exactly what its namesake alludes—timeless. An essential tone for the home due to its adaptability, this refined gray can be accentuated with sumptuous fabrics like a dark blue velvet sofa and warm golden candelabras, perfect for fall.

Benjamin Moore's Pale Oak : OC-20

Majestic and graceful, Pale Oak is another subtly beautiful neutral paint color that's incredible versatile. It can accentuate deep, rich wood tones and bold blacks and browns but also can pair nicely with a lighter and more feminine design sensibility.

Farrow & Ball Elephant's Breath : 229

Warm holiday gatherings get a little help from the transformative power of Elephant's Breath. A mid gray with a touch of magenta feels warm and almost a soft purple in the right light. Combine it with other neutrals or use it to play up warm wood tones and richer more vibrant hues like pink and deep reds.

Farrow & Ball French Gray : 18

Don't be fooled by its name, French Gray is honestly more green than gray. Another color that likes to morph based on the lighting, this paint feels old world and refined in all of the best ways. Put it to work in a dining room, mudroom, or sitting area for a relaxed, yet formal feel.

Benjamin Moore's Rural Earth : 1239

A rich brown in the fall feels so warm and cozy. Part of their Classic Color Collection, Rural Earth holds a firm place as one of our favorites. Combined with lighter and brighter neutrals or some of these more saturated colors, brown acts as a more inviting alternative to gray or deep black.

Farrow & Ball Inchyra Blue : 289

You know we can't resist a good Scottish influence wherever we can get it and this color is inspired by the wild unpredictability and beauty of Scottish skies. A sort of blue gray, this color feels both bold and moody and can be used in the place of a dark neutral like black or charcoal.

Farrow & Ball Eating Room Red : 43

More aged than apple red, Eating Room Red, like its name suggests, would be a perfect pick in a dining room or library space. It has a nuanced blackened pigmentation that feels aged and historic. Whether you work it in as an accent or whole wall color, you won't regret it.
